before & after

I found this sad 1940's crepe dress in the used Halloween costume section at the thrift store. Its age and beauty were nearly unrecognizable with the major wrinkling, rips and grotesque craft-store lace trim. An hour or two with a seam-ripper, needle & thread and a steamer brought it back to life. Although it is shorter than I prefer for a garment of this age, it was the best I could do to save the length.

Note: why do people get so trim happy? - a similar project.

  1. great find & great save!! I love halloween season at thrift stores, although it's also very madding to find what people did to great vintage garments.
